The French Open

Well, we're at that famous time of year when we ready ourselves for the French Open. I'd love to hear from you as to who you pick to win.

I'm really hoping that Federer can get by Nadal and I think he may - not by beating Nadal, but by having someone else beat him. Nadal has proven to be the best on clay but I question whether he can go 2 weeks against clay courters and continue winning. It's the mental aspect of his game that needs answers. Not that he is weak mentally, it's just an aspect of his game which requires further consideration.

On the women's side, rumour has it that there won't be a winner this year. Okay, so maybe I lie.

I like Clijsters, if she is healthy, and Mauresmo plays well in Paris. While I hate to admit it. Hardenne has to be a favourite but I'll be rooting against her forever. Look out for Petrova and, of course, Sharapova, but, PLEASE, tell me who and why you think someone will win the Open. And if you think Hingis will win it, I've got some land in Mexico which I can sell you.

For men, I say Federer. I think he will up his game if he faced Nadal in the final. And, even though he lost to Nadal last week, it was 7-6 in the 5th set. Anything can happen. The women's side is a crapshoot...I say either Henin or Mauresmo. Mauresmo won it last year, but I think that she may succomb to her injuries, opening the door for Henin. Guess we will see next week!

I have no idea what either of you are talking about , I haven't touched a tennis ball in a year. I think those names sound familiar though. ;)

I am shocked that someone beat Federer and Nadal of all people! I have nothing to back up my claim but I think Federer will win because he always does, doesn't he?

As for the women...I used to like Sharapova's spirit until she lost it. I blame her father. But I suppose i'd root for anyone that can beat Williams. :) Maybe I'll get to catch a bit of tennis in the summer.

Hello to you both by the way! :)

Well, Sam, you HAVE been away. Nadal is the new poster boy for clay court tennis and is the favourite to beat Federer in Paris. I am rooting for Roger, but the world is turning and nadal appears to have Federer's number. It just shows that some things do change. Soon we'll be calling you Dr.
