Euroleague Finals
I caught the final game between Maccabi Tel Aviv and CKSA yesterday. It's great that this tournament is being covered in North America where a one game, winner take all championship game would be unheard of, lost in the aroma of advertisers revenue.
My heart was with Maccabi Tel Aviv, but they played a poor game and really didn't have the guard play needed to get the ball to Anthony Parker or Maceo Baston in scoring positions. Will Solomon is/was their best guard yesterday, but his playmaking skills are minimal, and as a result, Parker never got going.
CKSA, on the other hand shot the ball extremely well, and got far better guard play, in a tournament where inside play does not dominate. Trajan Langdon gets the most press here in North America, but I didn't think he was the difference. Vanterpool was terrific, making many 3 pointers at critical times where Maccabi had no answer in defending him. He was the best player on the court yesterday.
All in all, I love the one game championship.

Maccabi Tel Aviv is a great team !
I've heard they may play against an NBA team, is it true ?
Maccabi did play the Raptors in an exhibition game in October, 2005 and won.
Man, Wexler...I know I haven't commented here in a while and for that I'm sorry. I,too, watched the entire finals game and was very, very disappointed. It was Pini's last game coaching Maccabi in the Euroleague and I felt bad for him and for the rest of the team. I saw Wil Solomon the day after the game at a Ramat Aviv makolet and asked him to stay with Maccabi. I also saw another Maccabi player of lesser importance and let him know I supported the club.
Hey...there's always next year.
Mr. Wexler: I've been following France's defeat of Brazil in the World Cup and the Detroit Tigers' amazing run in the first half of the baseball season. Could you maybe post on these two events?
Sincerely, Greg.
